Trains Scale

There are a variety of different toy model train scales available and it can sometimes be difficult for newcomers to understand and follow these different ratios.

A need for model train scales first appeared when veteran and hardcore enthusiasts wanted standards for trains that exactly simulated the size of “real” trains.

A range of different scales were therefore created with the most popular ones being the O scale, HO scale, TT scale, N scale, G scale, and Gauge I.

The O trains scale is predominantly used in toy model trains for children, whilst the G scale is often used for displays outside due to its size.

The most popular trains scale for indoor railroad tracks are the HO, O, and N scales. All of the different scales have their pros and cons and come in a range of different prices.

When choosing which scale to work with, it is important that you take into consideration how much space you have and the size the of the project you wish to undertake.

It’s always best to ensure that you do your research first before going and spending your hard-earned cash - there’s nothing more frustrating and annoying than purchasing a model train that will not fit on your track.

Always check labeling on products and try and speak to someone if you are ever unsure of the sizes you require!
